President

Art Martynuska

Art Martynuska a long time fire fighter for the City of Johnstown and President of the Johnstown Fire Fighters Union has been elected to the position of President of the Pennsylvania Professional Fire Fighters Association at the 41th annual convention of that association held in Philadelphia. The association represents over 10,000 active and retired fire fighters throughout the Commonwealth. Mr. Martynuska has been active for many years in the local labor movement. A career fire fighter and paramedic for the past 18 years Mr. Martynuska started with the Johnstown Fire Department in 1990. He has held the position of President for the local fire fighters union for the past 12 years. Mr. Martynuska has a Bachelors Degree in Fire Science and Safety Engineering from the University of Cincinnati and Masters Degree in Public Safety from St. Josephs’ University in Philadelphia. In 2003 he was selected by the International Association of Fire Fighters as one of two fire fighters from across the country to attend the prestigious Trade Union Program at Harvard University in Cambridge Massachusetts. He has also completed the Executive Fire Officer Program at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Maryland. Brother Martynuska holds a Fire Officer IV certification as well as certifications in 15 other disciplines in the fire and emergency service field, Currently, he sits on the NFPA 1201 and 1250 committees.  Mr. Martynuska is also an adjunct instructor for the Pennsylvania State Fire Academy in Lewistown, PA and for Bucks County Community College In addition, Mr. Martynuska sits on the Executive Committee of the Pennsylvania Fire Service Accreditation Advisory Committee. Prior to his election as President Mr. Martynuska served as a Recording Secretary for the State Fire Fighters Association, having first been elected to the that office in 2004. Secretary Treasurer

David Schmidt David was elected Secretary/Treasurer of the Pennsylvania Professional Fire Fighters Association in 2004 at the Association’s Convention in Erie. Before being elected to Secretary/Treasurer David served 14 years as Eastern Vice President of the PPFFA. During his tenure as Vice President he served on the Municipal Employees Pension Advisory Committee, alternate to the Governor’s Committee to investigate Fire Fighter Deaths in Pennsylvania, and co-chaired along with Vice President Matta the Fund Raising activities of the PPFFA. In 1999 David started the PPFFA Children’s Burn Camp for children who have survived burn injuries. David began his fire service career in 1978, with the Allentown Fire Department. There he served Allentown Local 302 for seventeen (17) years, ten of those as President. Prior to entering the Fire Service he worked for General Electric Portable Appliance Division in Allentown serving as a shop steward for three years. David has attended many labor study classes and seminars over the years both sponsored by the International Association of Fire Fighters, and the Pennsylvania Professional Fire Fighters Association.

Eastern District Vice President

Pete Huf Pete Huf a long time fire fighter for Upper Darby and President of the Upper Darby Fire Fighters Union has been reelected to the position of Eastern Vice-President for the Pennsylvania Professional Fire Fighters Association at the 40th annual convention of that association held in Scranton. The association represents over 10,000 active and retired fire fighters throughout the Commonwealth. Mr. Huf has been active for many years in the local labor movement. A career fire fighter for the past 19 years Mr. Huf started with the Upper Darby Fire Department in 1987. He has held the position of President for the local fire fighters union for the past 6 years. Mr. Huf has a Bachelors Degree in Pre-Med Biology from Villanova University and a Mortuary Degree from Mercer County Community College. He is an alternate to the Municipal Employees Pension Advisory Committee and the Statewide Advisory Board to the Pennsylvania Fire Commissioner. Mr. Huf is certified to the Fire Officer III level, and he currently holds the rank of Captain with the Upper Darby Department. Pete and his wife Christine reside in Drexel Hill with three sons, Myles, Michael and Matthew.

Recording Secretary

Dave Chiaramonte Dave was elected to this position during the 41st bi-enniel convention held in Philadelphia. He has served the City of Erie as a Firefighter and EMT since 1991. He has served the firefighters of Local 293 since 1994, currently serving as president. Previously, he held the postion of Trustee for the PPFFA.

Western Vice President

Gerald Tedesco

Jerry Tedesco is a fire fighter for the McKeesport Fire Department and Western Vice-President for the Pennsylvania Professional Fire Fighters Association. He was elected to the position of Western Vice-President for the Pennsylvania Professional Fire Fighters Association at the 41st annual convention of that association held in Philadelphia. The association represents over 10,000 active and retired fire fighters throughout the Commonwealth. Mr. Tedesco has been active for many years in the local labor movement. Jerry has been a career fire fighter for the past 18 years. He has held the position of President for the local fire fighters union for the past 12 years retiring from that position in April of 2013. Mr. Tedesco has an Associates Degree in Fire Science and Administration from the Community College of Allegheny County. He serves on the Community College of Allegheny County’s Fire Science Advisory Board and on the Pennsylvania Intra-State Mutual Aid Committee. Mr. Tedesco is a delegate to the Allegheny County Labor Council. Mr. Tedesco currently holds the rank of Captain with the McKeesport Fire Department. Jerry and his wife Kristen reside in McKeesport with their two children Dominic and Isabella.
