Art Martynuska a long time fire fighter for the City of Johnstown and President of the Johnstown Fire Fighters Union has been elected to the position of President of the Pennsylvania Professional Fire Fighters Association at the 41th annual convention of that association held in Philadelphia. The association represents over 10,000 active and retired fire fighters throughout the Commonwealth. Mr. Martynuska has been active for many years in the local labor movement. A career fire fighter and paramedic for the past 18 years Mr. Martynuska started with the Johnstown Fire Department in 1990. He has held the position of President for the local fire fighters union for the past 12 years. Mr. Martynuska has a Bachelors Degree in Fire Science and Safety Engineering from the University of Cincinnati and Masters Degree in Public Safety from St. Josephs’ University in Philadelphia. In 2003 he was selected by the International Association of Fire Fighters as one of two fire fighters from across the country to attend the prestigious Trade Union Program at Harvard University in Cambridge Massachusetts. He has also completed the Executive Fire Officer Program at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Maryland. Brother Martynuska holds a Fire Officer IV certification as well as certifications in 15 other disciplines in the fire and emergency service field, Currently, he sits on the NFPA 1201 and 1250 committees. Mr. Martynuska is also an adjunct instructor for the Pennsylvania State Fire Academy in Lewistown, PA and for Bucks County Community College In addition, Mr. Martynuska sits on the Executive Committee of the Pennsylvania Fire Service Accreditation Advisory Committee. Prior to his election as President Mr. Martynuska served as a Recording Secretary for the State Fire Fighters Association, having first been elected to the that office in 2004. Jerry Tedesco is a fire fighter for the McKeesport Fire Department and Western Vice-President for the Pennsylvania Professional Fire Fighters Association. He was elected to the position of Western Vice-President for the Pennsylvania Professional Fire Fighters Association at the 41st annual convention of that association held in Philadelphia. The association represents over 10,000 active and retired fire fighters throughout the Commonwealth. Mr. Tedesco has been active for many years in the local labor movement. Jerry has been a career fire fighter for the past 18 years. He has held the position of President for the local fire fighters union for the past 12 years retiring from that position in April of 2013. Mr. Tedesco has an Associates Degree in Fire Science and Administration from the Community College of Allegheny County. He serves on the Community College of Allegheny County’s Fire Science Advisory Board and on the Pennsylvania Intra-State Mutual Aid Committee. Mr. Tedesco is a delegate to the Allegheny County Labor Council. Mr. Tedesco currently holds the rank of Captain with the McKeesport Fire Department. Jerry and his wife Kristen reside in McKeesport with their two children Dominic and Isabella.
