It with deep saddness that we must report the death of 48 year old bicyclist Carlos Silva from Brazil who was killed today while competing in the World Police and Fire Games in Virginia. Two other riders, also from Brazil, were transported to nearby hospitals. Both men are listed in seriuos condition.

The Pennsylvania Professional Fire Fighetrs Association Bi-ennial convention starts next week with an opening reception from 6:30 to 9:30pm on May 12 in the main ballroom of the Hotel Bethlehem, 437 Main Street, Bethlehem, PA 18018. The convention opening ceremonies are scheduled for 9:30am on May 13th in th same ballroom.
I'm Mark Boncal a Captain with Nanticoke City Fire Dept. Local 2655. At this time my stepson, Brian Dougherty is awaiting a heart transplant at UPMC In Pittsburgh. He is currently home however arrangements are being made with Federal Air Ambulance in the event an organ becomes available. They will come to our local airport and pick him up and fly him to UPMC in Pittsburgh.

Sister Brenda Bauer passed away this morning after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She served as a paramedic in the RFD for 14 years.
Saturday, September 12th will be the 3rd Annual Community Heroes Day with Penn State Football as the Nittany Lions take on the Buffalo Bulls to kick off the 2015 season at Beaver Stadium. Community Heroes Day was designed to highlight all First Responders (both active and retired) for all of the good they do in the community.
