Deputy Chief Vince Wassel
Posted On: Oct 14, 2015

The following text was from a letter received from McKeesport L0010 President Eugene Eskin. The letter is attached.

Dear Friend,

We as McKeesport Firefighters put our lives on the line every day for the citizens of this great city and the surrounding communities. The dangers of this job sometimes come with great consequence.

Recently one of our members, Deputy Chief Vince Wassel has contracted brain cancer. Unfortunately this is one of the side effects of being exposed to the things we breathe in during normal firefighting operations.

Deputy Chief Wassel has selflessly served the City for over 20 years. He is a husband to his lovely wife Kim and father to Ashleigh and Vince their children.

We, the McKeesport firefighters along with many family and friends are attempting to put together a fundraiser to help with the day to day costs of the family as they go through this trying time in their lives. Any donation would be forever appreciated. Your generosity, however small would be a show of support for the family!

The firefighters hold Vince and his family in very high regard. This man has given his life to the fire service and this city and its time we show him the love and support they so greatly deserve.

Once again I thank you for your time and will be forever grateful to you and your loved ones.

#WasselStrong

                                                                                                                                Faithfully your,

                                                                                                                President Eugene Eskin, Local 10
